ストック写真とは、撮影した写真たちのことです。21歳からプロスタートした僕の仕事は、クライアントの指示通りに、写真を撮影することでした。当然、撮影された写真は、クライアントにすべて渡します。当たり前のことですが、気がついたとき、僕は「作品」と呼べる写真を1枚も持っていない事に愕然としたのでした。
35才の頃から、少しずつ作品を撮り始めました。自費で海外へ行き、九州をドライブして回りました。収入に結びつかない撮影を続けることは、とても大事なことです。この作業により、写真屋から写真家へと、意識が変わって行ったのでした。今ははっきり感じています。これは僕の仕事だと。
